Island Treasures

January and February
Jekyll Island commissions a group of highly skilled artisans from across the U.S. to create an array of stunning, handworked glass globes. During this two-month long program, "Beach Buddies" hide these floats in various locations on Jekyll Island for lucky visitors to find.

Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run

The Annual Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run across the scenic Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick, Georgia is scheduled each Saturday of President's Weekend. The Sidney Lanier Bridge is 7,780 feet long, making the Run both challenging and beautiful.

Easter Egg Stroll

March or April (During Easter)

A family friendly Easter gathering in the Jekyll Island Historic District. Search and find Easter eggs hidden along Pier Road, get pictures with Easter Bunny, and enjoy pony rides and other activities. Free tram tours through the Historic District at 10:30 am and 11:30 am. Eggs will be hidden and re-hidden throughout the festival. Special section for kids 3 and under.

Blessing of the Fleet

An annual tradition each Mother's Day Sunday, this beautiful Old World processional through Historic Hanover Square was started by the Portuguese community in 1938 to commemorate the first appearance of The Blessed Virgin to three children near the town of Fatima, Portugal on May 13, 1917. Hand-carved Brazilian Oak statue, with a crown of gold and precious stones, identical to the statue in Fatima, is placed on a carved wooden shoulder carrier and decorated with flowers. Parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Church process singing through the park.

Turtle Crawl Triathlon & Nest Fest

The Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl & Nest Fest is a USAT Sanctioned Olympic, Sprint Distance Triathlon, 5K Run, and 10K Run produced by Set-up Events as part of their Georgia Triathlon series. Events culminate with Nest Fest, educational activities and games for athletes and their families including the release of a rehabilitated sea turtle from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Events benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island.

Annual Golden Isles Kingfish Classic

The annual classic headquarters and weigh-in dock is at St. Simons Island's Gascoigne Bluff Park on the Frederica River.

Usually attracting over 100 boats each year, one of the highlights is when the boats head out into the open ocean in the early morning.  These are big open boats with multiple massive outboards race out of the St. Simons Sound in the hunt for the popular gamefish.  The biggest fish takes the top prize, usually a boat, motor and trailer!

For nearly thirty years the Georgia Sea Island Festival on St. Simons Island has celebrated the African American musical traditions, crafts and food of the coastal barrier islands. Nationally known and world renowned, the Georgia Sea Island Singers have been a highlight of the weekend since the festival on St. Simons Island was first organized in 1977 the 1980s by original members of the group Mabel Hillary and Bessie Jones.

Shrimp & Grits: The Wild Georgia Shrimp Festival

A weekend celebration of two of Georgia's most beloved foods - shrimp and grits. The festival features a cook-off, shrimp boat tours, cooking demonstrations, book signings, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment and a kid‐friendly fun zone. This festival is a must-see for any food lover.

Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee

Get ready for the annual Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples' Choice and Judges' Award. The day long event begins with the 1-mile Fun Run and 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid's Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation.

The McGladrey Classic

Saint Simons Food & Spirits Festival

Celebrating the Bounty of Georgia’s Golden Isles while raising dollars and awareness for Hospice of the Golden Isles, the only community-based, non-profit hospice serving the area.

Area restaurants, regional farmers and artisans will be the highlight of Saturday’s Tasting Tents, Farm Stand and Market.

This Festival promises to become an annual favorite, allowing guests to experience all that is unique about our community, while helping build a legacy for Hospice of the Golden Isles.

With more than 70 environmental, educational, research and resource exhibitors from throughout the southeast providing interactive exhibits and displays, the annual CoastFest highlights Georgia’s unique coastal environment in a family-friendly day of fun and education at the GA DNR Coastal Regional Headquarters near the Sidney Lanier Bridge in Brunswick.

Visitors of all ages can participate in activities from recycling to coastal weather … native plants to sea turtles ... water conservation to archeology… herpetology to geology … sharks to shrimp!! 

Georgia Florida Golf Classic

Golden Isles SUP Classic

The Golden Isles SUP Classic is a moderate-length (seven mile) competitive and recreational (three mile) race organized and hosted by Whitecap Stand Up Paddleboarding and co-hosted by Davis Love Enterprise's new stand up shop, Classic Paddle and Putt. Each year this event draws some big-time media attention from the McGladrey Classic, an Official PGA TOUR golf tournament, also hosted by Davis Love III, the 5th place all-time money winner on the PGA TOUR. TV, magazines, and some possible celebrities attend each year.

UGA Alumni Oyster Roast

UGA Alumni can relax and unwind with fellow alumni prior to the annual University of Georgia and University of Florida football showdown the following Saturday. The event is open to all Bulldog fans and friends. Enjoy roasted oysters, a variety of appetizers, and cold drinks at this beachfront gathering at Jekyll Island’s Great Dunes Park.

Jekyll Tree Lighting Festival & Holidays in History

Jekyll Island is transformed for the holiday season. The Historic District decorated in Christmas grandeur and special themed tours take guests back in time to Christmas during the Club era. The season begins with the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival the Saturday after Thanksgiving and continues with storytelling, caroling, craft workshops, and more.
