The Golden Isles is abundant in annual festivals and joyous celebrations that take place every month in stunning coastal settings. From locals to visitors and families to couples, these 2019 events will be enjoyed by everyone. Start marking your calendars!
January 1 - February 28, 2019
Search for handcrafted glass orbs remnant of the glass floats fishermen used to attach to their nets. These floats would occasionally wash ashore to be found and collected by beachgoers. Each day of the event, Beach Buddies will hide two to five floats throughout Jekyll Island for the public to find and exchange for a one-of-a-kind glass float.
January 19, 2019
The 19th Annual Oyster Roast supports St. Simons Land Trust and enables the preservation and protection of more than 1,000 acres of land on St. Simons Island. Attendees will enjoy a variety of local food and beverages along with live music by Jamie Renee & The Walkers.
February 7-10, 2019
The Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife event will feature artful pairs of food and drink accompanied by interactive programs with coastal wildlife. The South’s best chefs, master distillers and wildlife experts will be present at this oceanfront experience on Jekyll Island. Kick off the W3 festival with an exclusive multi-course meal on February 7 – spots are limited!
March 9, 2019
Support the Georgia Sea Turtle Center by participating in the annual Turtle Crawl on Jekyll Island. Run the 5k or 10k road race, or take part in the new, one-mile fun run along the beach to help save the turtles and other coastal wildlife! Runners of all ages and experience can participate in these events.

Experience the 81st Blessing of the Fleet in downtown Brunswick, featuring fresh seafood, a shrimp boat parade, arts, entertainment and more for the whole family. The Blessing of the Fleet began as a blessing to the shrimp boats and an honoring of the shrimping industry’s influence on the area.
Early June 2019
Celebrate African American tradition and culture of the coastal barrier islands at the annual Georgia Sea Islands Festival. Typically held the first Saturday in June, at this special event you can listen to musicians perform songs passed down from ancestors, taste traditional foods and view demonstrations of handmade crafts all on St. Simons Island.
St. Simons Island Sunshine Festival
July 4, 2019
This celebratory island tradition features numerous vendors, arts & crafts, live music, a golf cart parade, 5k and many more lively activities. The event takes place at the St. Simons Pier Village, and after dark, a dazzling fireworks show is showcased at Neptune Park.

Brunswick’s annual 4th of July festivities include fun and games for the whole family. Participate in classic activities such as tug-of-war, hula-hoop contests and horseshoes. A fireworks show over the East River will close out the night.

Celebrate the 4th of July on Jekyll Island with a patriotic parade, bounce houses, children’s activities, live music, food and other sidewalk vendors. Stake a spot on the beach as you witness the display of fireworks at the end of the day.

Hotel guests and members of Sea Island can enjoy a fun-filled Independence Day featuring a traditional Hawaiian luau, parade, pool party, family games, 5k and more. The celebrations will end with the Fireworks Spectacular taking place along the beach.

Voted as one of the best festivals in the Southeast, the Shrimp & Grist Festival on Jekyll Island is a must for foodies, families and anyone lucky enough to attend! The annual event features a cook-off, vendors, live music and a kids’ zone to celebrate this savory southern dish.

The annual RSM Classic is an official PGA TOUR event at the Sea Island Golf Club and raises funds for the Davis Love Foundation. Attendees can watch PGA TOUR Pros on the green, go to the RSM Concert or participate in activities such as the Charity Bike Ride. You might even get a chance to meet the pros.
December 7, 2019
More than a hundred floats and various marching groups will participate in the Brunswick Christmas Parade on the first Saturday in December. Walk in the parade or just enjoy the festivities as they pass through Historic Brunswick. Stay until the end to catch a glimpse of Santa.
November - December 2019
On the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, Jekyll Island’s holiday festivities begin with the Tree Lighting Festival. This event is fun for the whole family and features story time with Santa, a holiday market, live music, ice skating and of course, the annual lighting. Throughout December, Jekyll Island will host a variety of seasonal celebrations including the Holidays in History event where visitors can enjoy a tram ride tour through the decorated historic district.
