New Tree Spirits Arrive on St. Simons Island

Since the beginning of 2016, not one, not two, not three, but FOUR new tree spirits have joined the growing family on St. Simons Island! Spend a day riding your bike around the island in search of the newest tree spirits, all while taking in the local scenery and beautiful fall weather.

Here’s where to find them:

1.      Golden Isles Welcome Center, 529 Beachview Drive

This tree spirit, a nearly 7-foot tall mermaid, is hard to miss! It can be found in a tree in the Welcome Center’s parking lot.

2.     Mallery Park, Mallery Street

Keeping a watchful eye on children and families playing in the park, this tree spirit turtle can be found near the picnic area facing Butler Field.

3.     Mallery Park, Mallery Street

Yes, there are two new tree spirits in Mallery Park! This one can be found across the street adjacent to the basketball court.

4.     Gascoigne Bluff, Arthur J. Moore Drive

There are quite a few trees in Gascoigne Bluff, so this one may require a little more effort. The tree spirit is located farther back toward the marsh, and is closer to the picnic pavilion than the marina.

The Beach House Restaurant

The opening of The Beach House was a part of Jekyll Island’s Holiday Inn Resort’s massive $22 million renovation. The Beach House, complete with outdoor seating and water views, is a full-service restaurant as well as 3,000 square feet of event space for meetings, reunions and weddings. The restaurant offers fresh, locally sourced seafood, house-made pizza, fresh salads, and pasta. The Tap Room features 24 draft beers, including an array of craft brews that can be expertly paired with food selections. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Beach House is also available to host private parties and dining events.

Not only does Beach House offer delicious, locally inspired food, it’s also an excellent option for families, thanks to their kid menu, indoor shuffle board table and outdoor bocce ball lawn. Beach House will also offer live entertainment and happy hour specials.

Public House Coffee Opens in Historic Downtown Brunswick

Now wafting through the air along Gloucester Street is the sweet aroma of freshly ground coffee. The vibe of the new coffee shop is the perfect fit for Historic Downtown Brunswick – a socially conscious coffee shop, roaster and gathering place. Public House Coffee got its start in Colorado and officially opened for business in Jacksonville, FL in 2015. A second location was opened in Historic Downtown Brunswick earlier this year and has become a new local staple.

On the menu you can find anything from a traditional cup o’joe to Godiva hot chocolate and hot ginger lemonade to homemade pastries and goodies. More than 40 varieties of biscotti grace the bakery shelves each day. Our personal favorite? Chocolate covered coffee beans!
