DUMP, POUR & PRINT - 2 DAY WORKSHOP
INSTRUCTOR: Ann Marie Dalis
Tuesday, February 7 & Friday, February 10
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
MEDIUM: Mixed Media
LEVEL: All skill levels from beginners to advanced
Day 1: (3 hours)
Embellish some tissue paper for use in collage pieces. Begin on backgrounds for your printed fish and plant material. Paint some watercolor paper and then dump a little acrylic, sprinkle a bit of dry tempera paint, spray the mixture with some water, pour on some watered-down acrylic. Let the paper dry while printing some fish (gyotaku) and local plant material on rice paper and “gampi” silk tissue.
Day 2: (3 hours)
Students assemble the mixed media piece and add more painting and collage to the piece. This is a workshop where experimentation and fun are emphasized! While all materials needed will be supplied, students are encouraged to bring in stamps, inks, different types of pens and markers, flat found objects, papers, acrylic craft paints, and other collage materials that they enjoy using. (Please identify all your personal items!)
Display the final work/s and have a discussion about what did and didn’t work. Emphasizing the positive aspects of each students’ work, we will discuss other possibilities of utilizing the processes learned.
All supplies included.
