Earth Day Cleanup

Details

Join the Georgia Sea Turtle Center for an Island Cleanup!

We'll meet outside in front of the GSTC gift shop and caravan to the cleanup destination as a group.

Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes and bring your hat, sunglasses, water bottle, sunscreen, and insect repellent. We will provide gloves and lend you trash pickers with buckets and/or reusable bags for collecting debris.

Marine debris is a threat to our environment, navigation safety, the economy, and potentially human safety and health. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a partner with the Southeast Atlantic Marine Debris Initiative, which is part of the NOAA Marine Debris program. During this Island Cleanup, you will not only help clean up Jekyll Island, but collect important data on marine debris found around the island.

You will help protect our local wildlife and ecosystems by preventing trash from becoming marine debris in our oceans.
