The Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters are internationally known for their unique historical and educational performance. The Ring Shout is a connection to Africa and the former enslaved people in America. Margarie Washington is known as the Maya Angelou of Storytelling within the Gullah Geechee culture, and she is a direct descendent from plantations in our region.
