Join us March 30 - April 30 at the Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll Island.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. An artists' reception will be held April 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. with refreshments served.
Bonnie Newell is a former registered nurse from Connecticut who moved to Jekyll in 1970, left in 1974, lived in Asia and the South Pacific, returned to Jekyll in 1998 and commuted to her job in Washington, D.C., for five years.
"I find my inspiration in nature," she says of her pottery, which can be whimsical, comical, and thought-provoking. Newell is the current president of the Jekyll Island Pottery Guild.
The St. Simons resident's paintings – she works in oil, watercolor and acrylics – are deeply influenced by her Alabama roots. She says, "I learn and am inspired by my surroundings, past and present."
