Marine debris clean-up days at LSSI are a wonderful opportunity to participate in marine conservation. Our event on January will be a clean-up of Little Saint Simons Island Main Beach. Participants will disembark at the Main beach after breakfast and will be broken up into teams (with a naturalist leader) to ensure good coverage of the 5-mile stretch of beach. Once in place participants will walk 1-2 miles along the beach, collecting marine debris along the way.

After ~2 hours participants will leave the beach to head back to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch, all debris will be weighed, sorted, and counted. Guests are asked to participate in both stages of the clean-up (collection and sorting). The total duration of the clean-up day will be approximately six hours.
