Members of the Jekyll Island Arts Association come to the Golden Isles from various parts of the country to study, appreciate, and create art. Their creations of paintings, pottery, sculpture, quilts, weavings, woodworks, books, photographs, and everything-in-between are offered at the Merry Artists Market beginning Nov. 27 through Dec. 26 at Goodyear Cottage, Jekyll Island. Aside from special holiday events, regular hours are weekdays from Noon to 4 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prices for the one-of-a-kind pieces of art range from $5 to $250.
Featured artist events continue at Goodyear Cottage throughout the holiday season. A book signing by author Nick Doms, who wrote From Millionaires to Commoners: The history of Jekyll Island State Park, will take place November 27 & 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cathy Beckman, a painter and potter, will be personalizing her beautiful, handmade Christmas ornaments November 27 & 28 from 1-4 p.m.
Witness bead weaving with Jekyll Island Arts Association artist Jackie Becker on November 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Local author Pamela Bauer Mueller is available on December 4 & 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to sign her latest book Fly, Fly Away.
Mike and Joy Cook will be performing Native American flute music live for guests on December 6 & 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
David Loehle will demonstrate the art of marsh grass basket weaving December 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
