As an extension of the annual Southern Grown Festival, Sea Island carries on the fun all summer long with a Southern Grown Concert Series, beginning with a live performance by Colorado-based bluegrass group Yonder Mountain String Band on May 11th.
Every year, Jekyll Island hosts the Turtle Crawl Festival, which includes two triathlons, a 10K race and a 5K race in addition to family-friendly festival fun. Enjoy a “racecation” on Jekyll Island this summer!
Every Mother’s Day weekend, Brunswick hosts the annual two-day Blessing of the Fleet festival. Gorgeous shrimp boats decorated for the festival “parade” by Mary Ross Waterfront park to celebrate the time-honored tradition of blessing the fleet of our local shrimpers prior to the season.
The Southern Grown Concert Series continues with a live performance on June 8th by Shovels & Rope, an American folk duo out of Charleston.
The Georgia Sea Islands Festival has been a Golden Isles tradition for over thirty years. The festival celebrates the Gullah-Geechee musical traditions, crafts and food of the coastal barrier islands. Be a part of keeping these traditions alive!
Every 4th of July, Brunswick hosts an independence day celebration, complete with family-friendly games, contests and a fireworks show over the East River and Oglethorpe Bay. Best of all, it’s free!

Enjoy an old-fashioned patriotic parade through the Historic District. Locals and island guests are invited to decorate bicycles, golf carts, strollers, pets and even themselves to join in on the fun! After the parade, play the afternoon away with family-friendly games, water slides, bounce houses and more! The festivities are preceded by a spectacular fireworks display over the water the night before.
The Southern Grown Festival concludes with a three-day event from August 31-September 2 featuring live performances from several incredible artists to be announced closer to the performance.
