Mayfair: Blessing of the Fleet – Brunswick
Every Mother’s Day weekend, Brunswick hosts the annual two-day Mayfair festival. Gorgeous shrimp boats decorated for the festival “parade” by Mary Ross Waterfront Park to celebrate the time-honored tradition of blessing the fleet of our local shrimpers prior to the season.
Summertime Concert Series - Golden Isles
A variety of local arts and culture organizations host their annual summertime concert series, held all throughout the Golden Isles. These live music performances officially kick off in May and last through the summer season. The Coastal Georgia Historical Society hosts A Little Light Music, held on the lighthouse lawn; The Downtown Development Authority hosts Rhythm on the River, a FREE monthly concert held at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in Brunswick; and Golden Isles Arts & Humanities hosts Sounds by the Sea, which takes place at Neptune Park near the St. Simons Pier. Georgia Sea Islands Festival – St. Simons Island
The Georgia Sea Islands Festival has been a Golden Isles tradition for over thirty years. The festival celebrates the Gullah-Geechee musical traditions, crafts, and food of the coastal barrier islands. Be a part of keeping these traditions alive!
Swim-In Movie - Jekyll Island
Beat the summertime heat at monthly swim-in movies at Summer Waves on Jekyll Island. Grab an inner tube and watch family-friendly movies in the popular wave pool on a warm summer night.
Brunswick’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration – Brunswick
Every 4th of July, Brunswick hosts an independence day celebration, complete with family-friendly games, contests, and a fireworks show over the East River and Oglethorpe Bay. Best of all, it’s free!
4th of July Sunshine Festival – St. Simons Island
Celebrate the 4th of July at a multi-day family-friendly event filled with an arts and crafts show, 5K race, and fireworks of course!
Jekyll Island Independence Day Celebration – Jekyll Island
Enjoy an old-fashioned patriotic parade through the Historic District. Locals and island guests are invited to decorate bicycles, golf carts, strollers, pets, and even themselves to join in on the fun! After the parade, play the afternoon away with family-friendly games, water slides, bounce houses, and more! The festivities are preceded by a spectacular fireworks display over the water the night before.
