The health and safety of our guests and community is top priority for the Golden Isles Convention & Visitors Bureau. Along with government officials, the Golden Isles CVB is closely monitoring COVID-19 and any potential impacts to our area. If you are planning a trip to the Golden Isles and are concerned about the status of your visit, we hope to provide you with the most current and up-to-date information available.

Traveling to St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island and Brunswick

At this time, there are no travel restrictions to or within the Golden Isles and our individual towns. Many of our hoteliers and hospitality partners are taking extremely careful precautionary measures to ensure the health, safety and vitality of our guests. We recommend contacting individual properties should you have specific questions about a hotel, resort or vacation rental

Beach, Pier & Park Closures

All beaches in Glynn County, including St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island and Sea Island's Beach Club are closed to the public effective Saturday, March 21 at 6:00 a.m. until Monday, April 13. This closure also includes the St. Simons Pier. If you're missing the beach and the pier like we all are, please watch our live webcams and enjoy our beaches at a safe distance.

In a Special Called Emergency Meeting on March 25, 2020, the Glynn County Board of Commissioners passed an Executive Order that goes into effect on March 26, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. Glynn County owned Recreation and Park fields, courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas are also closed with the exception of walking trails, dog parks, marinas, and campgrounds. For a more comprehensive list of these parks, please click here.

Responsible Social Distancing

Although many public spaces, attractions and businesses remain open in the Golden Isles, the CVB highly encourages all visitors and residents to set good examples for others and practice responsible social distancing. We urge you to be mindful of federally mandated social distancing guidelines and stay at least six feet away from others. Please do your part to keep yourselves and others safe and healthy. Make decisions you feel are best for you, your family and your travel companions. Take advantage of restaurants offering take out, curbside services and delivery options. Support local businesses by shopping online. Above all else, be kind and calm, and practice proper hygiene.

During his press conference on March 23, Governor Kemp announced an executive order that requires Georgia residents with an increased risk of complications from COVID-19 to shelter in place. This includes individuals "who live in a long-term care facility, have chronic lung disease, are undergoing cancer treatment, have a positive COVID-19 test, are suspected to have COVID-19 because of their symptoms and exposure, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19."

Event Updates

Our team is working diligently to ensure our calendar of events is updated with accurate information for previously scheduled events. Please view individual events for the organizers' contact information, and any updates regarding cancellations and/or rescheduled dates. If you believe we have overlooked an event update, please let us know so we can ensure our website is accurate and up-to-date.

Restaurant, Business & Attractions Updates

Similar to event updates, our team is constantly staying in touch with our local tourism businesses and partners to stay aware of temporary closures and amended hours. In his press conference on March 23, Governor Kemp announced an executive order to close all bars and nightclubs effective noon March 24, 2020 through noon April 6, 2020.

In a Special Called Emergency Meeting on March 25, 2020, the Glynn County Board of Commissioners passed an Executive Order that goes into effect on March 26, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. The Executive Order covers only the non-essential businesses listed in the order. Other non-essential and essential businesses may continue to operate, but should adhere to social distancing guidelines. We are working closely with local businesses, activities, attractions and shops to ensure their information is correct as well.
