Camping on Georgia’s coast is a fun and adventurous way to uncover the remarkable coastal landscapes that the Golden Isles is known for. Before You Go 

Park your RV or pitch your tent and get ready to stay among the towering live oaks draped with Spanish moss on Jekyll Island Campground. This campsite features 18 wooded acres equipped with 179 total campsites. The campsite offers free WIFI, electricity, bathhouses and restrooms, a general supplies store, and on-site laundry. Bring your furry friend with you, the campsite is dog-friendly! Please keep in mind that in order to access Jekyll Island, you must pay a $10 entrance fee at the gate.

To ensure availability, reservations are recommended. Full hook-up back-in sites cost $51/day whereas pull-through sites cost $54/day. Tent sites cost $36/day and holiday rates may apply. Make Jekyll Island campground reservations.

When to Go 

With year-round temperate weather in the Golden Isles, it’s never a bad time to camp! Be aware that in the winter temperatures can drop at night, which may not be ideal for tent camping. The campsite has a two-night minimum on Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday nights, as well as a three-night minimum for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day. 

 

What to Bring 

Depending on the type of camping you plan to partake in, your supply list may be different. Before arriving, make sure you review the type of campsite you are booking and the amenities it includes. If you do find you forgot something, there is an on-site store that sells RV supplies, firewood, propane, ice, and personal items. Activities to Enjoy 

The Jekyll Island Campground is conveniently within walking distance to the start of the iconic Driftwood Beach, known for its unique scenery and beautiful weathered driftwood. Soak up some sun by spending the day at the beach and returning to your campsite for a meal by the fire upon nightfall.

 Also a walkable distance is Clam Creek, an enjoyable spot for beautiful views of the salt marsh. Clam Creek Picnic Area is not only an ideal destination for a picnic, but is complete with a fishing pier, Jekyll Island Fishing Center, a bait and tackle shop, and horseback rides.

The campsite also offers a bird sanctuary for your exploration as well as bike rentals. Biking is a popular activity on Jekyll Island, as it’s an easy way to explore the island and visit nearby historical and scenic attractions.
