Whether it’s a day spent lounging by the ocean or attending local events, the 4th of July in the Golden Isles is a memorable experience for all. Use this itinerary to help guide your perfect holiday in coastal Georgia.
Start your morning on St. Simons Island and grab a delicious breakfast to-go from Three Little Birds. Head to Gould’s Inlet to watch the sunrise and take in the calming sea breeze. Spend the rest of the morning relaxing by the beach, soaking up the sun and taking part in water activities. Hunting for tree spirits is a popular adventure that is also a great way to explore the island.
Enjoy a lunch break at the popular double-decker restaurant, Brogen’s South. Sit outside for ocean views as you fuel up on some tasty American cuisine. Brogen’s has been dishing up the Island’s best burgers in a classic family atmosphere for over 25 years.
Next, make your way to the St. Simons Island Sunshine Festival held annually in the Pier Village for over 60 years. This festival features a 5K and 1-mile fun run as well as arts and crafts and plenty of family-friendly activities. Take your pick of what you’d like to participate in, and make some memories!
After that, head to Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of Historic Downtown Brunswick, where happy kids and adults come together for Brunswick’s Old-Fashioned 4th of July. From free old-fashioned games to food trucks and live music, there will be plenty to keep you and your group entertained! The celebration starts at 5:30pm with a puppy parade.
After you’ve had all your festival fun, bring your picnic blankets and beach chairs with you to Jekyll Island for a memorable firework show. Witness the most spectacular fireworks in the Golden Isles after sunset, at around 8:45pm. These can be best viewed from Great Dunes Beach Park and Oceanview Beach Park, but be sure to arrive early to get your spot in the sand!
